I forgot how well Rowling wrote Ron/Hermione, how we saw all of this unfolding and developing in Deathly Hallows without it distracting from the overall narrative.
What we know of Ron/Hermione is limited by the series’ perspective: Harry could never know all that’s transpired between these two, especially since it seems that both Ron and Hermione have kept quiet on it, so what we see is based on what he sees. Deathly Hallows is different because this isn’t Hogwarts, danger is an ever-present reality rather than a potential eventuality, and in these circumstances everything comes to light.
Through Deathly Hallows, Ron and Hermione slowly reveal the depth of what they feel for each other. Until this book, we’ve seen what Harry feels for his friends and what his friends feel for him, but not the subtleties of this dynamic.
I’m more than ready to see it — finally, finally see it — on film.IS IT FRIDAY YET?
